Amedeo’s current research focuses on:

  • The history of European integration, with a specific emphasis on the analysis of ECJ judgments from the so-called foundational period.
  • The formulation of a doctrine of EU pre-emption of Member States’ law-making and treaty-making powers, drawing upon comparative federalism insights from the Integration Through Law Project.
  • Purely internal situations within the EU Internal Market, namely situations that lie outside the scope of EU fundamental freedoms insofar as all their elements are confined within a single Member State.
  • The Filangieri-Franklin Correspondence and the relations and mutual influence between Italian and American Enlightenment.
