Anaïs Angelo is a Ph.D. researcher at the department of History and Civilisation, EUI. She was originally trained as a political scientist in Sciences Po Paris, where she graduated in 2010 with a Master in International Relations. She specialised in African studies at the University of Michigan (Ann Arbor, USA), where she was an exchange student for one year.
After several research missions in Kenya and Senegal, she decided to explore the historical roots of presidentialism in Sub-Saharan Africa.
Her dissertation analyses the making of the first president of Kenya, Jomo Kenyatta. Her main areas of interest include Kenyan postcolonial political history, biography writing, and African presidentialism more generally.
Anais is also a freelance web journalist or the website www.africavivre.com dedicated to African literature, films, arts and music.
