Hugo Meijer is researcher at the Institute for Strategic Research (IRSEM, Paris, 2016-2017) and Programme Associate, European University Institute (EUI), Europe in the World Programme, Robert Schuman Centre for Advanced Studies (RSCAS). Starting in September 2017, he will be Marie Skłodowska–Curie Fellow at the European University Institute (EUI-RSCAS).
He is also the academic director of the European Initiative on Security Studies (EISS), a network of over sixty universities that share the goal of consolidating security studies in Europe. Previously, he was Lecturer in Defence Studies at King’s College London (2013-2016).
Dr. Meijer was a research associate at Sciences Po’s Center for International Studies (CERI, Paris, 2013-2016), a Senior Common Room Member at St. Antony’s College, Oxford University (2014-2015) and a visiting scholar at the Sigur Center for Asian Studies at George Washington University (2010). He received his Ph.D. in International Relations from Sciences Po in 2013 (cum laude), completed his M.A. in International Relations at Johns Hopkins University/School of Advanced International Studies (Washington DC/Bologna) and his B.A. in political economy at the LUISS (Libera Università Internazionale degli Studi Sociali) Guido Carli in Rome.
