My name is Katharina Meissner, and I hold a PhD in Political and Social Sciences from the European University Institute. After having defended my PhD thesis in June 2016, I moved to the Institute for European Integration Research (EIF), University of Vienna, as Assistant Professor.
Prior to my PhD research, I obtained a Diploma in Political Science (MA equivalent) from the Otto-Friedrich University of Bamberg, Germany, as well as a Postgraduate Diploma in Arts in Peace and Conflict Studies with distinction from the University of Otago, New Zealand. In 2013, I was awarded a Master of Research by the European University Institute. Next to my PhD research, I was affiliated as a course instructor to the Ruhr-University of Bochum.
Parts of my research have appeared in the Asia Europe Journal, the European Foreign Affairs Review, the Journal of Common Market Studies and with Palgrave Macmillan. Working at the intersection of European Union Studies and International Relations, my research interests include European Union external relations, International Political Economy and Regional Integration.
