Biography

Dr Paolo Chiocchetti is a political scientist specialized in Comparative Politics and European Studies.

He currently works as a Research Associate at the Robert Schuman Centre for Advanced Studies (RSCAS) of the European University Institute, exploring models of differentiated integration for the DiCE project. He also collaborates with the European Governance and Policy Programme (EGPP).

Before joining the EUI in 2020, Paolo obtained a PhD in European Studies from King’s College London and held research and teaching positions at King’s College London, the University of Luxembourg, the Free University of Bozen/Bolzano, and the Humboldt University of Berlin.

His current research interests focus on European integration, the international and domestic dimensions of Brexit, and Western European politics. His publications include  the monograph The radical left party family in Western Europe: 1989-2015 (Routledge, 2017), the edited book Competitiveness and solidarity in the European Union: interdisciplinary perspectives
(Routledge, 2019), and several book chapters, journal articles, and digital resources.

Paolo also teaches modules on British Politics at the Humboldt University of Berlin, serves as the secretary of the Political Studies Association’s Italian Politics Specialist Group (PSA-IPSG), and tweets at @p_chiocchetti.
