Zane holds a PhD in Law from the European University Institute and currently works as a Researcher at the European Trade Union Institute. Her research interests include labour law, social protection, anti-discrimination law, EU institutional and constitutional law, and judicial politics. In 2014/2015 she was a Fulbright/Schuman visiting researcher at Yale Law School and Rutgers University. She holds degrees from the University of Cambridge (specialisation in European law) and the University of Latvia. She has worked for the Ministry of Justice of the Republic of Latvia in the office of the Representative before the CJEU, and taught EU law, Constitutional law and human rights courses at the University of Latvia, Riga Graduate School of Law and the European University Institute. In 2016 she was a trainee at the chambers of Judge Levits at the Court of Justice of the European Union.
